Which Credit Card Gives you the Most Airline Mileage with Spendings

As a credit card queen, I own most of the major credit cards offered by banks here. The first credit card I own was a supplementary card given by my dad the moment I turned 21. The best deal is always converting your accumulated credit card points into airline miles. You get much more than redeeming shopping mall vouchers or gadgets.

So the question is, which credit card offers you the best mileage redemption program. If you spend a lot locally, the best card currently in town (other than cards offered to high networth customers) would be DBS's AMEX Altitude card. For the first S$1000 spent, one earns 1.2 miles for every $1. For every additional dollar spent in the month, one earns 1.6miles. It also offers up to 2miles for every S$1 spent overseas. However, if you spend a lot on your card in foreign currencies like buying things online, etc, please please do not use AMEX cards. The final exchange rate is the worst because AMEX charges a high admin fee for using the card. In this case, the CITIBANK Premier Miles card will offer the best mileage deal with 1.2miles earned for every S$1 spent. Maybank credit card also offers up to 2miles for every S$1 spent and the exchange rate is definitely better than an AMEX card.

Some banks charge a fee for converting credit card points to airline miles. I know UOB does not charge me a dime. Citibank charges S$25 and DBS charges an annual fee of S$40. AMEX Krisflyer card charges an annual fee of S$40-60. I have terminated the Krisflyer since the annual fee cannot be waived. Best way of accumulating points is to charge all your purchases to a single card. My favourites are the Citibank Premier Miles card, DBS Altitude Card and UOB Lady's Solitaire Card.
